TripAdvisor has become a highly recommended platform for tourists around the world, however, not all experiences have been positive and memorable.
As reported in the newspaper The Guardian , the platform that is considered the largest travel website in the world, was accused of failing to protect its users, after receiving two complaints of violation by company staff.
In the story, a woman named only “K” contacted France Mobile Number List TripAdvisor to complain about a sexual attack committed by a tour guide. According to them, TripAdvisor told them to leave a bad review for the guide on the website.
The intention was to request that the place where he stayed be removed, since a tourist guide related to the establishment had committed the abuse.

However, TripAdvisor refused to remove the company from its online listings.
“I couldn't believe it,” he told The Guardian . “Were they really asking me to remember the humiliating details of when I was sexually assaulted? Was this global company pressuring me to relive my trauma on their forum for everyone to see and comment on or, worse yet, for the perpetrator, who is still free, to respond by trolling me?”
“It made me feel devastated, hopeless and alone,” she added.
According to the same newspaper, TripAdvisor told the victim that its policy was not to remove a business from its lists, as this would allow an investigation.
He also sent her five sample reviews detailing similar experiences of sexual assault and rape that occurred at other hotels, apparently as a guide for her to write her own.
According to The Guardian there are more examples of reviews describing sexual assault, rape and groping committed by staff at hotels and other listed businesses. However, companies responded in only 14 cases, and only one indicated that the accused staff member had been disciplined.
A review of this nature was presented in Mexico in 2017. Therefore, TripAdvisor's immediate response was to add warning signs to hotels for which “health, discrimination and safety” problems had been reported.

The time limit for the warning note would be decided on a case-by-case basis, but the company said a three-month period would be the general period before the business would be reassessed. However, TripAdvisor said it would not specify why the warning had been placed on the hotel in question.
A TripAdvisor spokesperson told Newsweek that it is “a horrible tragedy when someone experiences a safety issue like a sexual or physical attack. TripAdvisor exists as an informative review platform for travelers to post their experiences, including traveler safety incidents.”

“Having a business listed on our platform is not an endorsement of that business,” the spokesperson added. “It would be detrimental to the public to remove these lists, thereby withholding valuable information. Allowing a business to operate in the shadows, without having a transparent record of travelers' experiences in that location, potentially puts travelers at risk.”
The spokesperson explained that TripAdvisor “believes that anyone impacted by a traveler safety issue, including sexual assault, has the right to write a first-hand account of their experience. Even a brief, non-descriptive mention of a traveler experiencing an attack can serve as a powerful warning to the global travel community.”
